Nashville edges CF Montréal 1-0 in tight GEODIS Park affair

Nashville SC picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory over CF Montréal on Wednesday night at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee, grinding out three points in a low-scoring contest that was decided by a single goal and preserved by a disciplined defensive effort.

The lone goal of the match proved to be the difference, as Nashville’s backline and goalkeeper Brian Schwake kept a clean sheet to secure the result. Schwake finished the night with two saves, matching Nashville’s official team total between the posts, and his work was enough to deny a Montréal side that struggled to generate consistent danger in the final third.

Nashville dominated the ball throughout the match, controlling 63.2 percent of possession and stringing together 641 passes, 573 of which found their intended targets. Leading that passing effort was midfielder Jeisson Palacios, who completed a remarkable 102 accurate passes on the night — a figure that underscored just how thoroughly Nashville dictated the tempo. Palacios was equally active without the ball, recording a team-high 12 defensive interventions to anchor the midfield on both sides of the game.

On the attacking end, forward Shakur Mohammed led Nashville with three total shots, the most by any player in gold and blue. The hosts attempted 10 shots overall, though only one found the frame — the one that mattered most, as it turned out. Nashville also earned three corner kicks and attempted 11 crosses, five of which were accurate, as they worked to break down a resilient Montréal defensive structure.

It is worth noting that Nashville were awarded one penalty kick during the match, though the team did not convert it into a goal, keeping their penalty goal tally at zero. Despite that missed opportunity, the hosts still found a way to claim the win.

CF Montréal had their moments, with Prince Owusu leading the visitors with three total shots — matching Mohammed’s output for the game’s individual shot-taking lead. Midfielder Brayan Vera was the engine in the Montréal midfield, completing 47 accurate passes while also recording a team-best 10 defensive interventions. However, the visitors were unable to manufacture a goal, and their inability to find the net ultimately cost them any chance at a result on the road.

Nashville finished the match with nine fouls committed and one yellow card, keeping their discipline largely intact over the course of 90 minutes. They were not caught offside more than once, a sign of the measured, controlled approach they employed throughout.

The 1-0 result gives Nashville SC a crucial home victory, adding three points to their tally in the Eastern Conference standings. For CF Montréal, the shutout loss on the road represents a missed opportunity to collect points away from home as both clubs continue to navigate the demanding stretch run of the MLS regular season.
