When household budgets tighten, the Naperville Woman’s Club (NWC) is turning everyday activities into charitable support for the community. Members are preparing a yard sale at their historic clubhouse at 14 S. Washington Street on Saturday, August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cash‑only event will benefit Hesed House, which provides shelter, food and other services to the homeless. This is the second year NWC has hosted the sale, and previous results showed strong community participation.
Local Business Partnerships Turn Meals and Shopping into Giving
In addition to the yard sale, NWC members have teamed with local restaurants and retail stores. During designated fundraising days, participating businesses donate a percentage of sales back to the club, allowing diners and shoppers to support scholarships and charitable programs simply by patronizing local establishments.
Small‑Scale Donations Make a Big Impact
Club volunteers have also collected grocery bags, reusable totes, cereal boxes, bag clips, aluminum can tabs, crayons, and quarters for various nonprofits, including Loaves & Fishes Community Services, Danielle Cares for Chairs, Ronald McDonald House, The Crayon Initiative, and Families Helping Families. Currently, members are gathering school supplies for families in Naperville School District 204 who need assistance.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
These efforts underscore the club’s belief that modest, neighbor‑to‑neighbor actions can add up to meaningful support for local families and businesses. NWC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, encourages anyone interested to learn more about upcoming fundraising opportunities at napervillewomansclub.org.
