The City of Naperville has launched a survey to gather resident feedback on overnight on-street parking. The survey, which is available through September 18, 2026, aims to understand how and why residents use on-street parking overnight.
Background
Overnight on-street parking has been limited in Naperville since at least 1948. The City Council has directed staff to gather additional resident feedback on this topic before bringing options and a recommendation to the Transportation Advisory Board.
The survey asks 10 questions and takes about two minutes to complete. Individual responses will be kept confidential and only reported in aggregate.
Residents can access the survey at polco.us/n/res/vote/naperville-il/overnight-parking-2026. Those with questions can contact T.E.D. Transportation Manager Mike Prousa at [email protected] or (630) 420-6094.
Concerns and Considerations
Some residents have expressed concerns about the potential impact of overnight on-street parking on public safety, particularly with regards to visibility and emergency vehicle access. Others have noted the potential for increased break-ins and property theft.
The City’s website notes that input from the survey will help inform a recommendation to the Transportation Advisory Board and City Council on the future of the City’s overnight parking restriction.
