Music on Main Kicks Off in North Myrtle Beach with The Tonez

In North Myrtle Beach, summer’s arrival is marked not by the calendar, but by the vibrant sounds of live music at the Horseshoe. On June 4, the city celebrates the return of its cherished Music on Main concert series, with The Tonez headlining the opening night. This beloved event, held at the public beach access at 11 S. Ocean Boulevard, offers free Thursday-evening concerts from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through September 24.

A Community Tradition

Music on Main is more than just a concert series; it’s a community staple that brings residents together for evenings of music and dance. Sponsored by Coastal Carolina National Bank and organized by the city’s special events office, the series features a diverse lineup of genres, including beach music, R&B, rock, country, and Motown. Angel Sylvester, the city’s Special Events Manager, emphasizes the event’s role in fostering community spirit, with live music and dancing by the beach creating a festive atmosphere for families and friends.

The Tonez: A Local Favorite

The Tonez, a high-energy band with deep roots in the Grand Strand, are no strangers to the Music on Main stage. Having performed in previous seasons, they bring a dynamic show characterized by a powerful horn section and versatile vocalists. Known for their award-winning performances in the Carolina beach music scene, The Tonez promise a lively mix of beach music, oldies, Motown, rock, country, funk, and R&B. Their engaging setlist is designed to keep the audience dancing throughout the evening.

Practical Details for Attendees

For those planning to attend, it’s important to note that the Horseshoe parking lot closes at 2 p.m. for concert setup, and chairs are not allowed before 3 p.m. Main Street from Ocean Boulevard to McMillan Real Estate closes to traffic at 4:30 p.m., with Ocean Boulevard closures following at 5 p.m. Golf cart parking is available along Main Street starting at 5 p.m., though spaces are limited.
