The public is welcome to attend the dog show with free admission, offering an opportunity for education about different dog breeds and observing the competition. Mt. Bachelor Kennel Club Vice President Karen Gray highlighted the educational benefits of the event.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to really learn the value of why it’s important to talk to breeders about the different breeds of dogs,” Gray said. “Not all breeds of dogs are for everybody. So if you’re thinking about getting a dog and you’re thinking about a particular breed of dog, this is a really good opportunity to learn more about that breed, to see the dogs out there, understand maybe how much grooming they need, how much socialization they need. It’s an educational opportunity.”
Vendors are also present at the fairgrounds, selling various dog products, accessories, and treats. Judging takes place throughout the day, concluding with a “Best in Show” segment each afternoon between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
