Mountain Home Coffee Shop Raises Funds for Fire-Affected Families

In the close-knit community of Mountain Home, Idaho, local businesses and residents have united to support families displaced by a recent devastating fire. Brie’sta Coffee Co., a popular local coffee shop, took the lead by organizing a fundraiser across its three locations on Sunday. The event aimed to collect donations for those affected by the fire, with the coffee shop contributing 10% of the day’s proceeds to the Mountain Home Burn Out Fund.

Community Support in Action

Owner Brie Thomason expressed the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis. ‘We had a devastating fire that affected our community, and so we decided to host a fundraiser to bring people together and hopefully help the families and law enforcement officers who were affected,’ Thomason said. The coffee shop served as a hub for donations, encouraging community members to contribute in any way they could.

The fire, exacerbated by strong winds, caused significant damage and left multiple families without homes. Mountain Home firefighter Juan Romero, one of the first responders on the scene, described the challenging conditions they faced. ‘It was pretty rough,’ Romero said. ‘There were high winds, and the fire just spread from there. It’s hard to explain how difficult it was.’

Immediate and Future Assistance

The fundraiser and the Mountain Home Burn Out Fund are providing immediate relief to victims while also building resources for future emergencies. ‘The community has really been helping us out in every way they can,’ Romero noted. ‘People have been donating clothes, money, and other necessities. Everyone has been coming together really well.’

Mountain Home Fire Chief Scott Neal has been in contact with all families receiving assistance and encouraged continued support through donations. He also shared positive news about a deputy who was injured during the fire and has since returned home to recover.

The outpouring of support highlights Mountain Home’s commitment to helping neighbors recover and rebuild in the aftermath of the fire. Community members continue to demonstrate their dedication to supporting one another during challenging times.
