Moundville Woman Escapes Jail

A Moundville, Alabama, woman is on the run after escaping from the Hale County jail. Ellory Kate Johnson, also known as Kate Nichols and Kate Strickland, was released from jail after a fake document was presented to the jailer.

Johnson, 32, was initially arrested in 2023 for practicing medicine without a license. She now faces additional charges, including Escape I, and a $30,000 bond has been issued for her arrest.

Debra Nichols, the person who presented the fraudulent paperwork, is also facing charges and has a $15,000 bond. Authorities claim that Nichols believed Johnson was her biological daughter.

Investigation Ongoing

The Moundville police chief, Toby Banks, is urging anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts to contact the authorities immediately.
