A motorcyclist died following a crash involving an Amazon delivery truck in Huntington Beach, according to police. The crash was reported at about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Slater Avenue and Beach Boulevard.
Both vehicles were traveling north on Beach Boulevard when a Harley-Davidson lost control and hit the back of the Amazon truck, the Huntington Beach Police Department said. The motorcyclist was unconscious on the roadway when officers arrived and the driver of the Amazon truck was unharmed.
The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. Authorities have not released the name of the motorcyclist, but identified him as a 22-year-old man from Costa Mesa. The Amazon truck driver, who was identified as a 27-year-old Santa Ana man, has been cooperating with investigators.
Huntington Beach police said it doesn’t appear as if the Amazon truck driver was impaired. It’s unclear if the motorcyclist was. Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator Vishal Rattanchandani at 714-536-5231.
