Montgomery ISD Drafts Budget with 3% Pay Raises

Montgomery Independent School District (MISD) leaders have drafted a budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, featuring a 3% pay raise for all employees. The draft general fund budget, presented by MISD Chief Financial Officer Ben Davidson during a June 9 special meeting, includes $108.9 million in both total revenues and total expenditures.

Breaking Down the Budget

The budget allocates $2.25 million for the pay raises, which will be calculated from the midpoint value of pay grades. Additionally, $221,000 is set aside for employee pay adjustments and stipends, and $989,367 is designated for expenses related to new full-time positions.

Some of the new staff positions include additional assistant principals at Montgomery Junior High and Montgomery and Creekside elementary schools, four special education teachers, eight special education paraprofessionals, a K-12 science coordinator, and a speech language pathologist.

Tax Rate and Budget Approval

The preliminary total tax rate for FY 2026-27 is $1.0738 per $100 valuation, which is lower than the current FY 2025-26 total tax rate of $1.0912 per $100 valuation. The tax rate could change before trustees consider it for approval on August 18, depending on the certified appraised values received from the Montgomery County Assessor.
