Montgomery Demolishes Old School for Health Center

The City of Montgomery has demolished the former Paterson Elementary School to make way for a new health center. The school, which was built in the 1950s, closed after the 2008-2009 school year and has been vacant and deteriorating ever since.

New Health Center

The site at 1015 East Jefferson Street will become the new home of Premise Health Center for city employees and their families. City leaders say the new facility will provide a range of services, including primary care, preventive health services, occupational health resources, wellness programming and other healthcare solutions designed to improve access to care for city employees.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said, “This project represents progress on multiple fronts. We are removing a long-vacant property that has been a concern for residents for years while investing in the health and well-being of the employees who serve our community every day. This transformation reflects our commitment to strengthening neighborhoods, modernizing city services, and supporting the workforce that keeps Montgomery moving forward.”

Chambliss King Architects is preparing the construction documents. Once those documents are finalized, the city will start a bidding process for construction.
