MLB Ballparks Host World Cup Fans

As the World Cup continues, MLB ballparks are hosting fans and bringing soccer energy to the games. St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol is planning to attend a World Cup match in Kansas City, where the Cardinals will be playing the Royals. The Royals’ first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino, and his wife also plan to attend the match.

World Cup Matches in Texas

In Texas, the Rangers will have a Monday off between home series on July 6, the day of a round of 16 match. The Rangers’ designated hitter, Joc Pederson, played soccer as a kid in California and is excited about the World Cup. The team completed a road trip in Boston, where they experienced the atmosphere of a European soccer game with thousands of Scottish fans chanting and singing at Fenway Park.

The Phillies will be off on Friday during their home series against the New York Mets, as Brazil plays Haiti at nearby Lincoln Financial Field. The home of the Phillies is next to an NFL stadium hosting some of the World Cup matches. Texas and Kansas City are both off for round of 32 Cup matches on July 3, a Friday.

Other World Cup Matches

Not all of the World Cup matches are next to MLB ballparks. Either the Mets or Yankees have a home game on each of the eight dates World Cup matches are at MetLife Stadium across the river in New Jersey. The World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium will be about 13 miles from Dodger Stadium and 35 miles from Angel Stadium.
