The city’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development has awarded Storefront Opportunity Grants to four Mission District businesses. Downtime, a nightclub set to open later this year, and Fried Chicken Palace, a Southern-style restaurant, each received $100,000. Mission Lotería, which hosts a Mexican-style lotería game with local businesses, and Formr, a furniture and home decor store, each received $50,000.

Ian James, a handmade leather creations store, will close next month after four years at 303 Valencia St. The owner cited slow sales and financial stress as the reason for the closure. Fog City Flea Trading Post, which moved into the old location of Stuff at 150 Valencia St, has also closed after just a quarter of a year. A new perfume shop, Yemex Perfumes, will open at 2035 Mission St, near 16th Street.
El Capricho Restaurant at 2022 Mission St, near 16th Street, appears to have closed, with a notice on the door alleging the owner owes $19,200 in rent. The next community meeting for updates on the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14th at 6 p.m.
