In the Republican primary, former National Football League sideline reporter Michele Tafoya is competing against former National Basketball Association player Royce White and Republican Party-endorsed newcomer Adam Schwarze. Tafoya leads the way in a recent KSTP-TV/Survey USA poll of Republican primary voters, with 41 percent of the vote, and also leads in fundraising, taking in $2.62 million in the most recent quarter. Tafoya supports abortion in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and opposes bans on In Vitro Fertilization.
Craig’s decision to run for Senate created a competitive race in the Democratic primary for her former seat in the U.S. House of Representatives’ 2nd Congressional District, which represents the Twin Cities south metro.
