Minneapolis-based author Seema Tiwari is set to showcase her debut novel, “Maa Maa Black Sheep”, at the Book Fair for Grown-Ups on Saturday, July 11. The story follows Mary, a billionaire matriarch haunted by a decades-old secret that traces back to a car accident 30 years earlier in Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Tiwari’s novel is one of many attractions at the Book Fair for Grown-Ups, which will feature over 140 writers, including local journalist Shayla Reaves and actor Kimberly Elise. The event will take place at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition to the Book Fair, the Twin Cities will host several other events on Saturday, including the Walker Art Center’s “Free First Saturday” series, the Twin Cities Chicano Fest, and the Black Food Truck Festival.
The Walker Art Center’s event will feature a colorful light installation, mini disco balls, and faux stained-glass windows, while the Chicano Fest will showcase Mexican-American culture with music, dance, and food. The Black Food Truck Festival will feature over 30 food and drink vendors serving a variety of dishes.
Comedian Jenny Yang will also perform at the Shuang Hur Supermarket as part of her “Good Egg” tour, sharing stories about growing up and navigating immigrant parent dynamics.
