Minden, Louisiana, police officers can now accurately measure sound levels with a new hand-held device. This tool helps enforce the city’s noise ordinance, which was amended this year to include newly defined amplified and nuisance noises, and maximum acceptable levels.
According to Chief of Police Jared McIver, the device takes the guesswork out of determining whether the city’s noise ordinance is being violated. The city council passed the amended ordinance to better regulate noise levels in the area.
