Miller County Red Dirt Master Gardeners are accepting applications for fall classes in Texarkana, Arkansas. The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture’s Basic Training program is of interest to anyone who would like to sharpen their horticulture knowledge and skills.
Training Details
Trainees will learn about basic botany, soils and fertilizer, pest control, and pesticide use. In addition, there will be classes on landscape design, vegetable and fruit gardening, annuals and perennials, and other topics of interest to homeowners.
There are two training options. In-person training is slated for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 21 and 28, Nov. 4, 11 and 18. Self-paced online courses begin Oct. 3 and must be completed by Dec. 11.
The application deadline is Thursday, Sept. 17. The cost is $150, which includes a manual and training supplies, first year’s dues, and a badge. Fees should be remitted along with the application.
