Fort Wayne, Ind. – MidWest America Federal Credit Union is stepping up for local education with a pledge of more than $60,000 to support Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) and the FWCS Foundation. The partnership, announced on Oct. 6, targets STEAM classrooms, teacher development and extracurricular music programs, reflecting the credit union’s commitment to strengthening families and neighborhoods through education.
Funding details
The credit union is allocating $10,000 each to three FWCS STEAM schools: Memorial Park Middle School, Weisser Park Elementary and the Whitney Young Early Childhood Center. In addition, $20,000 will flow to the FWCS Foundation to fund teacher grants. Those grants will be divided into 40 awards of $500 each, benefiting teachers at Adams, Brentwood, Harrison Hill and Weisser Park elementary schools as well as Whitney Young Early Childhood Center.
Why the investment matters
FWCS Superintendent Dr. Mark Daniel praised the collaboration, saying, “Partnerships like this create opportunities for our students and provide our teachers with additional resources to bring learning to life.” By directing money to STEAM initiatives, the credit union helps students gain hands‑on experience in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics—areas critical for future career success and for keeping families economically secure.
Community events
To showcase the new funding, presentations are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7. The first will begin at 8 a.m. at Memorial Park Middle School (2200 Maumee Ave.), followed by a 9 a.m. session at Weisser Park Elementary (902 Colerick St.) and a 10 a.m. gathering at Whitney Young Early Childhood Center (1026 E. Pontiac St.). These events give parents, teachers and local leaders a chance to see how the resources will be applied in classrooms.
Additional support
Beyond the STEAM and grant contributions, MidWest America is also backing the Memorial Park music program and the district’s “Big Noise” initiative, which provides jackets for FWCS Student Ambassadors. The credit union continues its involvement with programs such as Schools of Success powered by 3DE and Futures ON Track, both aimed at expanding career‑ready pathways for students.
Impact on families and the community
Investing in education aligns with the core values of faith, family and liberty that many Fort Wayne residents hold dear. When schools receive extra resources, families see better outcomes for their children, stronger community ties and a more vibrant local economy. The partnership demonstrates how a community‑focused financial institution can help preserve the traditional family structure by ensuring children have access to high‑quality learning experiences.
Looking ahead
The FWCS Foundation says the partnership is intended to expand opportunities for students and provide additional resources to schools across the district. With the new grants and program support, teachers will have more tools to personalize instruction, parents will see more engaging curricula, and students will benefit from a richer educational environment that prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow.
MidWest America Federal Credit Union’s generous contribution underscores the power of local businesses to uplift neighborhoods, reinforce family values and promote individual liberty through education.
