However, in a humorous turn of events, Mets rookie Carson Benge tossed the ball into the crowd, unaware that Senga wanted to keep it as a memento. Senga was seen holding out his arms in disbelief, trying to get Benge’s attention, while Benge realized his mistake and put his hands on his head in embarrassment.

Senga was asked after the game if Benge had managed to retrieve the ball for him. Senga joked that Benge was trying to tell him he should have just punched him out. The save opportunity arose after the Mets placed closer Devin Williams on the 15-day injured list earlier in the day.
