Menasha, Neenah and Fox Crossing announce final debris pickups and volunteer needs

Residents of Menasha, Neenah and Fox Crossing are being asked to act quickly as the final pickups for tornado‑damaged debris approach. Mayor Austin Hammond of Menasha reminded homeowners to place construction‑related items such as siding, roof shingles, wood and fencing on the curb by Friday, Aug. 28, the last day the city’s private‑contracted DTAK crews will collect them.

Organic debris—including trees, branches and bushes—will continue to be collected beyond that date, though the city has not set a firm end date for the service. “We’re still analyzing and assessing how long we’re going to have the DTAK crews continue to pick that up,” Hammond said.

What is not included in the pickup

The city will not accept bulky items such as furniture or tires through the curbside program. Those items must be taken to the city’s bulky‑item program. Residents are encouraged to follow the City of Menasha Government Facebook page for the latest updates on the cleanup schedule.

Neenah and Fox Crossing updates

Neenah will conduct its final pickup of both organic material and construction debris beginning Monday, Aug. 31, at 6 a.m. After that Friday, residents will be responsible for arranging their own removal of any remaining items.

Fox Crossing completed its final construction‑material pickup on Friday, Aug. 21, but will keep collecting organic debris until Sept. 11.

Volunteer opportunities

Menasha continues to need volunteers—both individuals and organized teams—to assist with critical tornado‑recovery tasks over the next several days. Specific volunteer sites include:

  • Terrace Raking & Cleaning on Doty Island east of Smith Park – Aug. 27
  • Terrace Raking & Cleaning from 9th St to 4th St between 47th and Melissa St – Aug. 28
  • Terrace Raking & Cleaning from 9th St to 3rd St between Racine and Hwy 47 – Aug. 28

Those interested can sign up through the Volunteer Fox Cities website.

Hazardous‑material disposal

Residents with hazardous items to dispose of may drop them off at the Jefferson Park Boat Launch on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 1‑5 p.m.

These coordinated efforts reflect the continued commitment of local officials to restore the affected neighborhoods, protect public health, and involve community members in the recovery process.
