A traveler with a confirmed case of measles may have exposed others at Hollywood Burbank Airport and a nearby rental car service, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Exposure Locations and Times
People who were at Gate A4 between 8:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on June 17 may have been exposed. Additionally, those who visited the Thrifty Rental Car Service at 2627 N. Hollywood Way in Burbank between 9:20 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. on June 17, or between 10:25 a.m. and 11:25 a.m. on June 18, may also have been exposed.
This is the seventh confirmed case of measles reported in Los Angeles County this year. The Los Angeles County Health Officer, Dr. Muntu Davis, urged residents to ensure they are fully protected against measles, especially with summer travel and large gatherings like the World Cup.
Measles spreads through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes and can remain in the air or on surfaces for hours. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, and a rash that typically begins on the face before spreading to the rest of the body.
