Massachusetts Libraries Offer Free Radon Testing

Seven Massachusetts libraries have begun distributing Ecosense EcoBlu radon detectors through their Library of Things initiatives, providing residents with free access to award-winning radon testing technology.

Radon Testing Importance

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is the number-one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. Because radon is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, its presence in residential buildings often goes undetected until levels are dangerously high.

The Ecosense Library Lending Program is an efficient tool for solving this problem. The program makes it possible for people to get access to high-quality radon tests offered through community libraries, including the Marlborough Public Library.

"We’re thrilled to be able to offer this important detection device to our community. Homeowners will now be able to make informed decisions about radon levels in their homes," said Sara Belisle, Library Director at Marlborough Public Library. "We’re circulating two devices, and there’s currently a waitlist!"

Program Expansion

Since its launch, the Ecosense Library Lending Program has been adopted in more than 700 libraries across 14 states in the US, providing people with an easy way to acquire advanced equipment for detecting radon.
