A Massachusetts State Police trooper accused of throwing punches in a viral surveillance video from a Quincy bar will face a public court hearing next month, following a legal request from NBC10 Boston.

The surveillance video shows a man pummeling another patron at a Quincy bar with a series of punches. The blows appear to knock out the victim as a bartender covers her mouth in the background.
Trooper Christopher Regan has been suspended with pay since July 2, according to an MSP spokesperson. The union representing state troopers told NBC10 Boston that Regan will be getting his own attorney to address the matter.
Public Hearing
The hearing will be conducted on August 27 in Quincy District Court. The acting clerk magistrate in Quincy District Court decided that Trooper Regan’s hearing will be conducted in public after receiving a petition from NBC10 Boston and the Boston Herald.
