Immigration advocacy organization We Are CASA is helping Marylanders from Haiti and Syria residing in the U.S. under a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program connect with legal immigration alternatives.
Background
The scramble began after the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security secretary’s ability to end TPS programs last month. TPS is a government protection granted to eligible foreign-born individuals who are unable to return home safely due to conditions or circumstances preventing their country from adequately handling the return.
