Martinez replaces Boston Red Sox left-hander Ranger Suarez, who is dealing with a left groin strain, while Rafaela replaced New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, who is out with a stress fracture in his first right rib. The All-Star Game will take place Tuesday at Philadelphia.
Martinez, 35, is 7-2 with a 2.61 ERA over 17 starts in his first season with Rays. Over nine major league seasons, he is 55-61 with a 4.01 ERA in 297 appearances (146 starts). Rafaela, 25, is batting .283 with eight home runs and 39 RBIs in 87 games for the Red Sox.
