Mars Encounters, the main family attraction at the Clark County Fair, has opened to large crowds. The exhibit features a mining colony theme, where children can mine special rocks needed for colonization on Mars. The attraction includes a huge inflatable rocket ship obstacle course, live shows, and a new AI character named Alik.
Education and Fun
The exhibit is designed to be both fun and educational, with a focus on teaching children about the process of mining and analyzing rocks to extract oxygen, hydrogen, and fuel for rockets. The live shows are orientation meetings for new colonizers, warning them not to remove their spacesuits on the surface of Mars and providing a history of the planet.
The exhibit is open daily at 10 a.m., with three live shows at 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. The creator, Kerry DeWitt, has plans for a new story next year, but for now, it’s all about Mars.
