Owners of Little Apple Pilates in downtown Manhattan, Kansas, say their business has been inundated with political calls intended for U.S. Representative Tracey Mann. The mix‑up stems from the contact number listed on the Kansas Secretary of State’s website, which matches the studio’s public phone line.
Calls began early in the year
Hilary Santana, the studio’s proprietor, reports that the unwanted calls started in February and have continued on a bi‑weekly basis. Initially, callers simply wanted to speak with Rep. Mann, but as the 2026 election cycle progressed, the volume and tone of the calls intensified.
“People are calling about the war with Iran and other campaign issues,” Santana explained. “We have no connection to his office, and it’s taking time away from our clients who just want a workout.”
Impact on the business
The studio, which offers group Pilates classes and private sessions, says the interruptions have become “heinous and non‑stop” as Election Day approaches. Santana added that the calls often include heated political commentary, forcing staff to field questions unrelated to fitness.
“We would like our number removed from his campaign trail,” she said. “It distracts from the work we do, and we don’t know him or his office.”
Representative Mann’s office responds
When contacted, Rep. Mann’s communications director said the office was unaware of the issue and would coordinate with the Secretary of State to correct the listing. The director also noted that the number in question does not appear to be a former contact for the representative.
“We are looking into the matter and will work with the appropriate state officials to ensure the correct information is posted,” the spokesperson stated.
What residents can do
Local residents who wish to reach Rep. Mann are encouraged to use the official contact information listed on his congressional website or call the Kansas Capitol office directly. The Secretary of State’s office has been asked to verify and update all listed contact numbers to prevent further confusion.
Meanwhile, Little Apple Pilates continues to serve the Manhattan community, hoping the misdirected calls will soon be resolved so the studio can focus on health and wellness rather than political chatter.
