Philadelphia police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday evening in the East Falls section of the city. Around 5:30 p.m., a Pennsylvania state constable providing security at a shopping center on the 2800 block of Fox Street discovered a 25‑year‑old man with a gunshot wound.
Victim transported to hospital
The victim was quickly taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of family members.
Witness reports a fight inside a vehicle
According to investigators, a witness reported seeing a fight inside a black Honda SUV parked in the rear portion of the shopping center lot shortly before the victim was found. The constable attempted to intervene, but the Honda and a second vehicle fled the scene.
Abandoned vehicle discovered
Later, officers responded to a report of an abandoned black Honda SUV at a cemetery on the 3200 block of West Clearfield Street in North Philadelphia. Police Inspector D.F. Pace noted that the vehicle’s ignition was broken and a considerable amount of blood was present. The vehicle is believed to be registered to the shooting victim.
Investigation ongoing
