A 21-year-old Loxahatchee man, Nickolas Vanderplate, is facing a felony charge of criminal mischief after causing about $2,000 in damage to an exit door at the Regal Cinema in Royal Palm Beach.
According to the arrest report, Vanderplate had consumed one drink at the bar and had ordered a second one but knocked it across the counter before finishing it. He then ran across the lobby, around the roped area, and into an auditorium, before slamming into a locked emergency exit door, ripping it off its hinges and breaking it from the frame.
Vanderplate was taken to Palms West for medical clearance and then booked at the Palm Beach County Jail. He was ordered to make an appointment with a mental health provider within three days of release and to have no alcohol, illegal drugs, or non-prescription drugs with a testing schedule.
