A man is in jail after he was accused of intentionally driving his vehicle toward an 11-year-old on an e-bike during a neighborhood dispute, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Incident Details
Gregory Hoole, 44, ran a stop sign on Black Rail Street before striking the e-bike and the child’s leg, deputies said. Hoole then got out of the vehicle, slapped the child, grabbed the child’s cell phone and smashed it.
Investigators said surveillance video captured the incident, and two witnesses’ accounts supported the victim’s claims. Hoole called 911, claiming the 11-year-old and other children were harassing him, deputies said.
The victim said he knew Hoole from an incident that occurred on the Fourth of July in which fireworks were involved. The details of the incident are unknown at this time.
Hoole was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, child abuse and criminal mischief.
