A man is recovering from injuries after accidentally shooting himself in the leg over the weekend in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a call around 11:50 a.m. of a reported shooting at 2030 Dortmund Dr.
Officers found the victim sitting in a chair in the parking lot of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the leg. They provided medical assistance and transported him to a local hospital. Additional officers arrived on scene and were unable to find where the victim had been shot, but located a car belonging to him in the parking lot with a semi-automatic rifle inside.
CSPD later determined the victim had accidentally shot himself and was not shot by another person. The man has been released from the hospital.
