Recovery efforts are underway in Madison County, Kentucky, after recent flooding damaged homes and businesses. Despite the destruction, residents are finding comfort in the outpouring of community support.
Mark Jackson, a local resident, said the water moved quickly, reaching his barn and pushing toward his house. However, he expressed gratitude that his family and home are safe. Jackson praised the community’s response, saying, “It’s just a blessing how the community comes together and it really touches your heart to see people that really care. There’s still people that care in the world, and yeah, I’m just blessed. I’m blessed even though it’s falling apart,”
Volunteers Lend a Hand
Volunteers from across the country are helping with the cleanup efforts. Harold Pruitt, who is also affected by the flooding, expressed gratitude for the volunteers who have shown up to help. One of the volunteers, Albert Rorabeck, came from North Carolina with his own excavator, truck, and trailer to assist with the cleanup.
Rorabeck said he didn’t wait for anyone else before making the trip. “This is my personal excavator, my truck, my trailer. I didn’t need to wait for anybody, so I just ran with it,” he said. The sight of people coming together has made the cleanup process feel more manageable for residents.
