Understanding MRD Tests
The MRD test analyzes the remaining tumor and detects extremely low levels of the specific tumor that was removed during Augenstein’s lobectomy. This test is designed to guide oncologists in determining whether patients with earlier-stage cancer need chemotherapy or radiation after surgery.
Augenstein shared his results with WTOP’s morning anchors, expressing gratitude for the technology and support from others who have shared their own cancer journeys. He noted that his symptoms were limited to a cough, which led to his diagnosis, and he continues to work and appreciate the kindness and support from others.
