LULAC Convention Highlights Latino Issues

The 2026 National Convention of The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is being held in Fort Worth, Texas, with a focus on issues affecting Latinos and other racial minority groups. Roman Palomares, LULAC’s national president, emphasized the importance of understanding the rights of immigrant neighbors and ensuring that laws are being abided by.

Convention Highlights

The convention will feature workshops, cultural events, and guest speakers, including state politicians. LULAC has more than 570,000 members nationally and advocates for issues such as voting rights, access to education, and basic human rights. The organization is also focusing on increased immigration efforts and the ongoing legal battle over birthright citizenship.

LULAC announced its partnership with Tyson Foods Inc. to donate 40,000 pounds of protein to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Additionally, over 1,000 books and Lego sets will be distributed. The convention will also offer information and resources on financial education, mental health and wellness, Latino and Women leadership, and meetings for LGBTQ+ members and youth groups.

David Cruz, national communications director for LULAC, stated that this year’s convention aims to highlight the importance of young people and multi-generational households becoming engaged in civic issues in their communities. Cruz emphasized that LULAC is an important voice for the national Latino community and other communities of color, especially during a time when many attacks on civil and human rights are being seen in the United States.
