The Lubbock County Office of Emergency Management is leading the Support Our First Responders (SOFR) Campaign to provide bottled water and monetary contributions to help keep first responders hydrated during the summer. The campaign, which was extended through July 31st, is now in its final week.

The Need for Hydration

With triple-digit temperatures becoming the norm across the South Plains, the need for hydration has never been greater. First responders, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMS crews, work in challenging conditions, wearing heavy uniforms and protective gear, and need to stay healthy and ready to respond to emergencies.

The community has stepped up to support the campaign, with enough monetary donations to purchase 31 pallets of bottled water, in addition to another pallet’s worth of bottled water donated during a community drop-off event. However, the goal for 2026 is 60 pallets, and organizers are still nearly halfway short of where they hope to be before the campaign wraps up.

How to Help

Businesses, churches, civic organizations, and community groups are encouraged to get involved during the campaign’s final stretch. A donation of $200 covers the cost of an entire pallet of bottled water that will be distributed directly to first responders serving communities throughout Lubbock County. Even smaller donations can help move the needle, with every dollar getting the campaign one step closer to its goal.
