Sheds and accessory buildings larger than 200 square feet with electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems also require a permit.
However, not all home repairs require a permit. Fixing faucets, replacing a damaged outlet, or changing a broken window do not require a permit. The best way to determine if a permit is needed is to ask if the project changes the house’s structure.
