Richardson, Texas – September 8, 2026 – Lowe’s announced a $100,000 grant to Dallas‑area nonprofit SheBuilds Futures as part of its Community Impact program. The funding will complete the interior build‑out of the Building Futures Innovation Academy, a new hands‑on learning center where girls can explore architecture, construction, engineering, design and the skilled trades.
Local impact and workforce pipeline
The academy will give students real‑world project experience, technical and leadership training, and the chance to work alongside industry professionals. SheBuilds Futures aims to strengthen the pipeline of future female architects, builders, designers, engineers and community leaders – fields where women remain significantly underrepresented.
Support from Lowe’s and community goals
Kelly Flowers, founder and CEO of SheBuilds Futures, said the grant “represents a door opening for the girls we serve.” She added that Lowe’s investment helps transform a vision into a space where girls can pick up tools, solve real‑world problems and see themselves as future builders and innovators.
Through its Community Impact Grants, Lowe’s is committing $10 million to the program and an additional $10 million to more than 2,000 associate‑led projects that improve community spaces nationwide. The grant to SheBuilds Futures is one of 100 projects selected from over 5,000 nominations for 2026.
Broader community benefits
The renovated academy will also expand SheBuilds Futures’ STEAAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) education offerings, providing a safe, dynamic environment for girls to develop confidence and skills that translate into future careers. By investing in this project, Lowe’s supports its five‑year, $100 million commitment to revitalizing hometowns, which includes projects ranging from food‑pantry expansions to shelter restorations.
Community members can follow the progress of the Building Futures Innovation Academy on Lowe’s website and the #HowLowesHelps social‑media channel.
