The Louisville Slugger Museum is turning 30 and is throwing a party to celebrate. The museum, which is located in downtown Louisville, has been a popular tourist destination since it opened in 1996.
History of the Museum
The museum was previously located in Clarksville, Indiana, but was brought back to Louisville through a concerted effort by the city and Hillerich and Bradsby and Co. The museum’s current location on West Main was chosen over a potential site on the waterfront.
Since its opening, the museum has seen over 7 million guests, with around 300,000 people visiting each year. The museum is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a week of programming, including a birthday party on Thursday, July 16.
Birthday Party
Admission to the museum on Thursday will be $4, the same price as when it first opened in 1996. The first 1,000 guests will receive a commemorative pennant, and there will be games for kids and a DJ. The museum is also handing out special edition mini bats to celebrate the anniversary.
