MetroSafe is reminding residents in Louisville, Kentucky, not to call 911 when they hear loud fireworks this holiday weekend. According to MetroSafe, 911 calls flood in during the Fourth of July every year, and many turn out to be noise complaints.
Conserving Emergency Resources
MetroSafe says calling about fireworks takes valuable resources away from true emergencies. “We can’t get officers to respond because you guys are tying up the line,” said 911 call taker Kissiah Green. Last year, MetroSafe says 911 operators answered 4,697 calls on July 4. In 2024, they answered more than 5,000.
For nuisance and noise complaints this holiday weekend, MetroSafe asks that residents call the non-emergency line at 502-574-2111.
