Lone Star CASA, a vital organization in Rockwall, Texas, recently welcomed a new group of volunteers dedicated to advocating for children in the foster care system. The swearing-in ceremonies took place at the Rockwall County Courthouse in March and April, with the Honorable Judge Brett Hall administering the oath to these committed individuals.
Community Commitment to Foster Care
In March, five CASA Volunteers and one Helping Heart were sworn in, followed by eight CASA Volunteers and two staff members in April. Helping Hearts are family members of CASA Volunteers who undergo training to provide additional support throughout the advocacy process. These volunteers join Lone Star CASA’s mission to be a consistent voice for children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Kaufman and Rockwall Counties.
CASA Volunteers undergo 30 hours of specialized training focused on child advocacy, the foster care system, and courtroom procedures. They must be at least 21 years old, pass background checks, and commit to supporting a child through their case. Once appointed, volunteers work closely with children, families, caregivers, and professionals to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes for each child they serve.
Growing Impact in the Community
The impact of Lone Star CASA continues to grow. In 2025, CASA Volunteers advocated for 272 children, a significant increase from the 214 children served in 2024. This 27% rise highlights the growing need for advocacy in the community. Lone Star CASA encourages more community members to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of local children.
