Lompoc Man Arrested in Connection with Morro Bay Jewelry Burglary

A 27-year-old man from Lompoc was taken into custody on Sunday following a burglary at a business located on Embarcadero Road in Morro Bay. The arrest occurred after local law enforcement conducted a traffic stop in the city limits of Morro Bay, which led to the discovery of a large quantity of jewelry suspected to be stolen.

Details of the Incident

According to the Morro Bay Police Department, officers responded to a burglary alarm at approximately 3:45 a.m. on May 31. Upon arrival, they found a broken front window at the business, and the property owner confirmed that a significant amount of jewelry was missing. Shortly after, deputies from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for an unspecified code violation. During the stop, deputies noticed narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, prompting a search that uncovered a substantial amount of jewelry.

Officers were able to confirm that the majority of the jewelry recovered from the vehicle was indeed stolen from the business earlier that day. The driver, identified as a 27-year-old Lompoc resident, was arrested on charges of burglary, receiving or possessing stolen property, and theft with two or more prior convictions.

Ongoing Investigation

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate other potential incidents connected to the property found in the vehicle. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Morro Bay Police Department at 805-772-6225.
