A local geologist, Dominique Brough, has created a free self-guided audio driving tour of Grand Teton National Park. The tour, which became available on Monday, follows the outer park road from Jackson to Moran Junction and can also be taken online.
Geological History of the Tetons
The tour explores the geological history of the Tetons, covering topics such as earthquakes, ancient seas, and ice ages that shaped the park’s landscape. According to Brough, the tour is a “2.7-billion-year journey through one of the most dramatic geological stories on Earth.”
The audio tour was made possible by a grant funded by Visit Jackson Hole. Brough expressed excitement for people to use their imaginations and re-create the forces and conditions that created the iconic landscape of Grand Teton National Park.
Those interested in the tour can access it online or through the TravelStorys app on iPhone or Android.
