The WIAA state tennis tournament saw impressive performances from local athletes. Notre Dame’s Alex Thomas advanced to the Division 1 singles semifinals with decisive victories over Reid Hirn of Badger and Ethan Hoffman of Hartford. Thomas will next face Kimberly’s Colin Meixl, who also secured a spot in the semifinals.
In Division 1 doubles, Kettle Moraine’s August Spence and Lew Stuckey defeated West De Pere’s Giovanni Zifferblatt and Brayden Hagenow after the latter duo had a strong showing against Hartford’s team earlier in the tournament.
Track and Field Achievements
At the WIAA state track meet, local athletes continued to excel. In Division 1, Neenah’s Emma Severson claimed first place in the shot put with a throw of 47-11.5. In the girls’ long jump, Neenah’s Celia Gentile and Appleton North’s Ashley Parrish both delivered outstanding performances, securing second and third places respectively.
In Division 2, Winneconne’s Trey Zemke topped the pole vault event, while Xavier’s Wyatt Ruiamba took first place in the triple jump. Notre Dame’s Richie Flanigan also emerged victorious in the discus throw.
