ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico Lobos wrapped up their weekend series against the San Diego State Aztecs with a victory Sunday.
Entering the finale, New Mexico was hunting its 22nd win of the year and aiming to complete its first Mountain West sweep of the season. The team delivered when it mattered, securing the series with a strong offensive showing.
Although the Lobos fell behind for a short time early in the contest, they responded emphatically and pulled away late. New Mexico scored enough runs to finish the game with a 12-8 win, closing out the series on the home field.
With the victory the Lobos improved their record to 22-12-1 overall and sit at 8-3-1 in Mountain West play. The series win provides momentum as the team continues through conference competition.
