Lizzo’s Career Struggles

Lizzo, the 38-year-old pop star, has been facing a tough time in her career lately. Her latest album, ‘Bitch,’ has failed to break through, with reportedly fewer than 3,000 copies sold in its first week and failing to crack the Billboard 200 in the first two weeks.

Accusations and Lawsuits

In 2023, three dancers, Noelle Rodriguez, Arianna Davis, and Crystal Williams, filed a lawsuit against Lizzo, accusing her of sexual harassment, body shaming, and creating a hostile workplace. Lizzo has denied the allegations, calling them ‘false’ and ‘unbelievable.’ Her attorney, Melissa Glass, stated that the claims have ‘no basis in reality’ and that 18 witnesses, including most of the other dancers on ‘The Special Tour,’ have refuted the allegations.

The lawsuit has been ongoing for three years, with both sides trading briefs and appeals. Last year, a judge threw out the accusations of body shaming, and the case is currently waiting for a date from the California Court of Appeal to hear oral arguments.

Impact on Career

The lawsuit and the subsequent accusations have had a significant impact on Lizzo’s career. Many fans were taken aback by the lawsuit, and Lizzo took breaks from social media. When she re-emerged in 2024, she was slimmer, but still happy to show off her body.

Lizzo has also been speaking out about the music industry and the algorithm-based way that social media functions. She believes that this has destroyed the music industry and has made it difficult for artists to get their music out to the public.
