Lindsey Graham is a US senator from South Carolina and 2016 GOP presidential candidate. Born on July 9, 1955, in Central, South Carolina, Graham graduated from the University of South Carolina and later earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Early Life and Career
Graham worked in his family’s pool hall and restaurant, the Sanitary Cafe, while growing up. After his parents passed away, he helped raise his younger sister, Darline, and later adopted her. Graham served in the US Air Force from 1982 to 1988 and later in the South Carolina Air National Guard and US Air Force Reserve.
Graham was the first Republican elected to the US House of Representatives from South Carolina since 1877. He was elected to the US Senate in 2002 and has been serving since then. Graham has been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights and has been involved in several high-profile cases, including the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
Presidential Campaign and Later Career
In 2015, Graham announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination but suspended his campaign in December of the same year. Graham has been a vocal supporter of President Trump and has served as an informal adviser to his team.
