Lindsay Clancy’s Cellphone Notes Reveal Struggle

Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old mother from Massachusetts, is on trial for the murder of her three young children. Notes found on her cellphone, which were presented in court, paint a picture of a woman struggling with her mental health and the challenges of parenting.

Clancy’s Struggle with Mental Health

The notes, which were written in the months leading up to the killings, detail Clancy’s struggles with anxiety, depression, and postpartum psychosis. She wrote about feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from her children, and about her hesitation to take new medication.

Clancy’s attorney argues that she should not be held criminally responsible for the killings because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time. However, prosecutors contend that Clancy was not in the ‘throes of psychosis’ when she killed her children and that she acted deliberately and meticulously.

Cellphone Records

Clancy’s cellphone records show that she had made internet searches related to caring for and playing with children, as well as searches about prescription medications and mental disorders. She had also searched for information about suicide and had made a query about treating a sociopath.

The notes found on Clancy’s phone, which were written in the months leading up to the killings, provide a glimpse into her state of mind during that time. They show a woman who was struggling to cope with the challenges of parenting and who was desperate for help.
