The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which was recently renovated as part of President Donald Trump’s makeover ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, is experiencing issues with its new paint. The paint, which was applied in a process that has already cost over $14.6 million, is chipping off in some areas.
Algae Issues Persist
Despite efforts to clean the pool, including the use of hydrogen peroxide to combat algae growth, the problem persists. The algae has turned the pool’s water green in some areas, and the chipping paint is now visible to tourists and passersby.
The Department of Interior has not commented on the issue, but has previously stated that the algae problem is being addressed through the use of advanced technology.
