Following the closing of public pools, the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department (LPRD) has announced Fire Hydrant Parties that began on August 10. These events aim to bring essential cooling relief to neighborhoods during the hottest point of the summer.
Event Details
Each event will feature hydrant-connected water spray features, and various city departments, including Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, and Lincoln Police Department, will have activities for the community. The events will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. on August 10 at Densmore Park, August 14 at UPCO Park, August 17 at Arnold Heights Park, and August 21 at Roberts Park.
A Lincoln City Libraries Bookmobile will be present at UPCO Park and Roberts Park. The events will be held in the parks’ parking lots, and attendees are advised to wear appropriate footwear and accompany children.
