Liberty Hill ISD Implements $3.2M in Staff Pay Raises to Boost Retention

Liberty Hill Independent School District (LHISD) has taken significant steps to enhance its educational environment by approving a $3.2 million increase in staff compensation. This move is part of a broader strategy to attract and retain quality educators, ensuring the district remains competitive in the educational landscape.

Details of the Pay Increase

The district’s board approved a 3% pay raise at pay grade midpoints, benefiting various staff categories. Support staff received a total increase of $358,251, while auxiliary staff saw a $250,764 boost. Professional staff will enjoy a $661,955 increase. These raises apply to employees who have worked at least 90 days during the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, the district plans to update its pay grade structures to align with market standards.

These enhancements were made possible by the passage of Proposition A in 2025, which allocated $10.7 million towards retaining and recruiting teachers and supporting student programs. The district collaborated with the Texas Association of School Boards to conduct a market analysis, comparing data from districts with similar student populations and local non-school employers.

Impact on the Community

Rebecca Owen, LHISD’s executive director of human resources, emphasized the importance of competitive compensation in maintaining a strong educational staff. “When you have a competitive compensation, you keep strong people in the district,” Owen stated. “When you have strong people in the district, your students are going to be more successful.” This sentiment underscores the district’s commitment to fostering an environment where educators and students can thrive.
