Lexington police respond to shooting near apartment complex on Redding Road

Lexington, Ky. – At approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Lexington police received a 911 call reporting a shooting near an apartment complex on Redding Road, just off Landsdowne Drive. Officers arrived within minutes and found an adult who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Victim taken to hospital

The victim was immediately treated by responding officers and then transported to a nearby hospital for care. Hospital officials described the injuries as life‑threatening, but did not release further medical details to protect the patient’s privacy.

Investigation ongoing

Law enforcement officials have not released information about a possible motive, suspect description, or whether any weapons were recovered at the scene. Detectives are canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses.

Police are urging anyone who was in the vicinity of the apartment complex around the time of the incident, or anyone who may have seen suspicious activity, to contact the Lexington Police Department’s tip line at (859) 258‑5555. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online through the department’s website.

Community response

Local residents expressed concern over the incident, noting that the Redding Road corridor has seen an increase in traffic and activity in recent years. Neighborhood association leaders said they will work with city officials to explore additional safety measures, such as improved lighting and increased patrols, to help deter future violence.

The Lexington Police Department reminded the public that it remains committed to maintaining public safety and that community cooperation is essential for solving crimes quickly. Officers also reiterated the importance of reporting any suspicious behavior, no matter how minor it may seem.

Public safety resources

Citizens can access resources on personal safety and crime prevention through the Lexington Police Department’s community outreach programs. Information on self‑defense classes, neighborhood watch initiatives, and emergency preparedness is available on the department’s website.

As the investigation continues, police will provide updates as new information becomes available. The department thanked the community for its assistance and urged anyone with further details to come forward.
